Position Summary

The Janitor maintains a clean, safe, and orderly environment in offices, restrooms, and other assigned areas.

This role directly supports Fora’s mission of creating and advancing employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Sweep, mop, scrub, and polish floors.
  • Remove trash and other refuse.
  • Dust and clean furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Polish metal fixtures and trimmings.
  • Replenish supplies and perform minor maintenance tasks.
  • Clean restrooms, showers, and lavatories.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and report hazards or facility issues promptly.
  • Support snow and ice removal during winter months, including shoveling, spreading ice melt, and ensuring safe entryways and walkways.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
  • Participate in supervision meetings, training, and required safety programs.
  • Follow all policies outlined in the site procedures manual and Fora Employee Handbook.
  • Maintain a workplace free of harassment, discrimination, and unsafe conditions.
  • Report concerns regarding safety, harassment, or discrimination to a supervisor, operations manager or HR.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; bend, reach, kneel, or crouch to access hard-to-reach areas; and occasionally lift or move objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Work hours may vary based on site needs, weather conditions, or special events, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends as required.
  • Knowledge of cleaning procedures, safe handling of products, and use of equipment such as vacuums.
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, problem-solving, and ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks efficiently; work independently or as part of a team; adapt to changing environments and/or locations within the contract, schedules, and seasonal duties.

Office building, interaction with building customers and the public.
